In 1940 Indian produced the 340 for military and police use. They are
very rare as it was reported that much of the production was lost when a
ship was sunk by a U boat while delivering 2500 340's to the Italian
military. The military Chief is much the same as a civilian Chief
with the exception of the big fenders. This machine was
in former Indian dealer and AMA hall of famer, Dick
Bettencourt's, collection for many decades. After sitting in
storage for 50 years, the bike was serviced and started right up.
It runs very well, smooth and quiet. Selling with state
