This is a CL72 Honda motor on a Cates
frame. Originally built in 1962 by Tom Cates and raced that year
at the AMA National Short Track at Santa Fe Speedway in Chicago, IL, by
Darrell Dovel. History is documented by magazine articles and
photos. Motor is the second one built (#2). Serial number is
CL72E-210002, which is the first number listed in the parts book.
Restored in 1996 and raced in AHRMA Vintage Dirt Track until 2005.
